Stretch Mark

Stretch marks are formed due to the hormone changes when pregnant. Elastin and collagen are pulled apart with expanding abdomen. Subcutaneous capillaries and veins walls are also thinned and expanded, bringing random cracks in pale pink on the skin. These cracks will gradually subside after laboring, leaving fleshy to white lines on the abdomen, and sometimes thighs, hips, breasts, shoulders, and arms.  Other common causes of stretch marks when the skin rapidly stretches as a result of sudden growth or weight gain.

Stretch marks can be improved by IPL, lasers, or RF after delivery. These treatments help to stimulate collagen for a smoother appearance. In addition, a chemical peel can be performed to lighten the pigment of stretch marks.
