A minor in-clinic procedure for the removal of small, benign skin lesions such as milia and comedones.
Extraction involves creating a small opening in the skin’s surface, using a fine needle, lancet, or similar sterile instrument, to release the trapped contents of a lesion. A comedone extractor or similar tool is then used to express the contents. The opening is minimal, and no stitches are required.
Considered for
- Milia (small, firm white or yellowish bumps caused by trapped keratin)
- Comedones (blackheads and whiteheads)
- Small, superficial benign cysts
